Yemen says response to Saudi attacks will continue

Yemen’s Foreign Ministry has said that in light of increased Saudi military activity on Yemeni territory, the response by the country’s armed forces will continue and will not stop until Saudi attacks cease.

In a statement, the ministry said the continuation of Saudi attacks has made a reciprocal response necessary, and that Yemen’s armed forces consider themselves committed to defending the country’s sovereignty, protecting citizens and targeting sources of attack within the framework of international law.

The statement said the recent increase in Saudi military activity in recent weeks has led to an escalation in the situation. Yemen’s Foreign Ministry also accused Saudi Arabia of seeking to hide its attacks against the Yemeni people by making repeated allegations, saying the latest of these, according to the ministry, was hundreds of airstrikes.

The Yemeni Foreign Ministry added that the country does not see itself as a source of threat and wants relations based on mutual respect. The ministry also called on the international community to objectively examine the course of events and compel Saudi Arabia to stop its attacks, its violation of Yemen’s sovereignty and its plunder of the country’s assets and resources.

Yemen is located in the south of the Arabian Peninsula and in recent years has been one of the main centers of tension and conflict in the region.
