Gaza death toll rises to 73,470, Palestinian health ministry says
The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza said that as the war in the enclave continues, the number of people killed since October 7, 2023, has reached 73,470, while the number of wounded has risen to 174,540.
The ministry said on Wednesday that the bodies of eight martyrs were transferred to Gaza hospitals in the past 24 hours. According to the ministry, seven of them were recently killed, while one more died from the severity of his injuries. During the same period, 31 other Palestinians were also wounded.
The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza also said that a number of victims are still trapped under the rubble and on the roads, and that rescue teams have so far been unable to reach them.
According to the ministry’s figures, since the ceasefire took effect on October 11, 1,334 Palestinians have been killed and another 4,429 wounded. The ministry added that the bodies of 815 martyrs have also been recovered from beneath the rubble.
The Gaza Strip is a narrow enclave in southern Palestine that has been extensively destroyed since the start of the war, and access to medical and relief services in some areas has faced serious difficulties.
