Pakistan and Britain discuss Afghanistan and security cooperation

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met Jonathan Powell, Britain’s national security adviser, in London, and the two sides discussed the situation in Afghanistan and regional security developments.
Security in the Middle East was also among the main topics of discussion during the meeting. The two sides also consulted on bilateral cooperation in counterterrorism and intelligence sharing.
No further details have been released on the practical outcomes of the talks. The report also did not provide any explanation of a specific decision or a new agreement between the two sides.
Britain is regarded as one of the actors involved in the region’s security and political issues, while Pakistan has played an important role in developments related to Afghanistan, particularly in border security and efforts against armed groups.
