Taliban Administration Cuts Cargo Service Fees at Airports

The Taliban administration has announced a reduction in the cost of some air transport services at Afghanistan’s international airports, saying the move is aimed at lowering the cost of moving goods and supporting traders.

The Taliban-run Ministry of Transport and Aviation said aviation security fees for each ton of cargo have been reduced from $100 to $10. The ministry added that ground handling charges per ton have also fallen from $96 to $40.

Fathullah Mansour, deputy minister for aviation operations at the Taliban-run Ministry of Transport and Aviation, said the decision was taken to reduce transport costs, support traders, strengthen exports and move Afghan products to global markets.

According to him, a 25% discount has been set for regular cargo flights and a 50% discount for special cargo flights.

Cargo refers to the transport of goods by air, while ground services include unloading, loading and aircraft handling at airports.
