Peshawar police detain two Afghan journalists

Peshawar police detained two Afghan journalists, Ibrahim Amiri and Abid Momand, from their place of residence last night and transferred them to an unknown location.
According to published information, the two journalists had travelled to Peshawar to obtain a visa for a European country. It has been said that they were staying in the city with the support of Reporters Without Borders (RSF).
So far, no further details have been released about the reason for their detention or where they are being held.
Peshawar, the capital of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, is one of the cities that a number of Afghan journalists and migrants visit to pursue immigration and visa cases. Reporters Without Borders is also among the international organisations that support media freedom and journalists.
