Three Afghan Taekwondo Athletes Compete at Asian Cup in Lahore

Three Afghan taekwondo athletes will face their opponents today, Thursday, in the eighth edition of the Asia region’s 2026 World Taekwondo Federation Presidential Cup, in the kyorugi event.
According to the Afghanistan Taekwondo Federation, Ehsam Rahimi will compete in the under-54kg category, Hikmatullah Zain in the under-68kg category, and Omid Sohak in the under-87kg category on the mat.
Officials from the Afghanistan Taekwondo Federation said these matches are important for collecting ranking points and improving the athletes’ positions in the world standings. They said participation in these competitions could create better opportunities for qualification to the Asian Indoor Games and the Asian Games.
The tournament is being held in Lahore, Pakistan, with more than 500 taekwondo athletes from 40 countries taking part. Kyorugi, one of the main disciplines in taekwondo, is dedicated to direct combat between athletes.
