Xi Jinping to Travel to Washington for Meeting With Trump

Xi Jinping is set to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington on October 2, according to four sources familiar with the Chinese president’s travel plans.

According to Politico, the trip will be limited to Xi’s meeting with Trump, and he will not travel to New York afterward to attend the United Nations General Assembly.

The sources said the meeting will take place on September 24, while the UN General Assembly will open in New York on September 22 with world leaders in attendance.

The United Nations General Assembly hosts annual speeches and diplomatic meetings by heads of state at the UN headquarters in New York and is usually considered one of the world’s most important political gatherings.
