U.S. senator says war with Iran was unwinnable

U.S. Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut has said that war with Iran has been “unwinnable” from the outset and that its consequences could turn into a disaster for U.S. foreign policy.

In a message on the social media platform X, he wrote that no amount of emphasis on how catastrophic this war is would be an exaggeration. Murphy also described the event as “America’s illegal aggression on Iranian soil.”

The senator went on to say that, in his view, the arrogance of U.S. President Donald Trump had led to the biggest foreign policy disaster for the country since the Iraq war.

Chris Murphy is one of the Democratic Party’s well-known figures in the U.S. Senate and represents the state of Connecticut.
