Taliban in Khost Distributes Cash Aid to 317 Needy Families

The Taliban administration in Khost has distributed cash assistance to 317 needy families.

As part of continued limited cash aid in Khost, the Taliban said around 800,000 afghanis were distributed among 317 needy and destitute families in the province.

According to Taliban officials, the aid was provided by the counternarcotics police force under the Khost police command to families that had been deemed eligible by a designated committee in the province.

The Taliban administration did not provide further details on the exact timing of the process or the amount each family received. It was also not clear whether the aid is part of a sustained programme or was carried out only on a one-off basis.

Khost is one of Afghanistan’s southeastern provinces, with the city of Khost as its capital. In recent years, rising poverty and hardship in many Afghan provinces have increased vulnerable families’ dependence on cash and humanitarian assistance.
