Yaftal District Chief Accuses Taliban Opponents of Aligning with ‘Former Enemy’

Abdul Qadeer Ghafoori, the district chief of Yaftal in Badakhshan province, accused opponents of the Taliban administration of aligning themselves with a country they previously called an “enemy” during a public gathering.
He described this approach as “shamelessness and audacity” and claimed that critics and opponents of the Taliban administration had changed their stance.
These remarks come amid a political environment in the country marked by extensive restrictions on political and civil activities, where any open opposition to the Taliban administration faces severe reactions from its officials.
Yaftal district is part of Badakhshan province in northeastern Afghanistan, a region that has witnessed tensions and protests against some Taliban decisions in recent years.
