Heavy explosions reported in Kyiv as Russian drone attack hits city

Strong explosions were heard in Kyiv early on Thursday morning, and the city’s mayor said debris from a missile had fallen on one building, while a fire broke out in another.

Ukraine’s air force had earlier reported a Russian attack involving 124 drones and said Kyiv was the main target of the drones.

In a separate development, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the country’s army to be expanded by 15,500 troops. With the increase, the Russian armed forces will total 1.55 million personnel.
