New $15 Million Medicine Factory Opens in Herat Industrial Park Amid Healthcare Challenges

A medicine manufacturing factory worth $15 million has been inaugurated in the industrial park of Herat province. This project is launching while the country’s healthcare sector continues to face significant challenges.

Noor Jalal Jalali, acting Minister of Public Health of the Taliban administration, attended the opening ceremony of the factory. Taliban officials have not provided details about the factory’s production capacity or employment figures.

According to statistics from the Herat Chamber of Industries and Mines, with the commencement of this facility, the number of medicine factories in the industrial park has reached 19.

Herat Industrial Park is considered one of the largest industrial zones in the country, where several manufacturing factories have been established in recent years across various sectors, including food and medicine industries. However, private sector activists consistently emphasize the need for sustainable infrastructure and tangible support for domestic production.
