Taliban Administration Reviews 200 MW Solar Power Project in Kabul

While Kabul continues to face electricity shortages and dependence on energy imports, the media office of the Taliban’s Kabul provincial administration announced the review of a 200-megawatt solar power project in the Khak-e-Jabar district.

According to the office, Aminullah “Obaid” Azizi, the Taliban-appointed governor of Kabul, held a meeting with energy sector officials to discuss the design, technical details, and practical implementation of the project. The meeting also addressed the progress of work, coordination among relevant agencies, and increasing solar power production capacity.

The Taliban governor of Kabul stressed the acceleration of the project and adherence to quality standards, stating that his administration will cooperate in providing facilities, particularly in land transfer.

Solar energy projects are being promoted by the Taliban administration while residents of Kabul have repeatedly complained in recent years about frequent power outages and the lack of stable electricity infrastructure. Power supply remains a critical challenge for the city’s residents.
