Pakistan Denies Taliban’s Allegations of Arms Smuggling for Sabotage Activities
Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has rejected the Taliban administration’s claim that weapons are being smuggled from Pakistan to Afghanistan for “sabotage activities,” calling the allegations contrary to reality.
The Dawn newspaper reported on Sunday, August 9, that the ministry issued a statement labeling such claims as “baseless and hollow” with no documented foundation.
According to the Pakistani authorities, attempts to link Pakistan with these arms are aimed at diverting the international community’s attention from more serious and documented concerns.
The ministry further asserted that terrorist groups operating within Afghanistan enjoy space, facilities, and freedom of action to plan and carry out attacks inside Pakistan.
In recent years, Pakistani officials have repeatedly accused the Taliban administration of supporting anti-Pakistani groups, an allegation the Taliban has denied. Security tensions between the two sides persist, with the presence of armed groups in Afghanistan becoming one of the main points of contention between Kabul and Islamabad.
