Taliban and Uzbek Ambassador Discuss Cultural Cooperation and Joint Tourism Initiatives

The Taliban’s Ministry of Information and Culture announced that Mawlawi Qudratullah Jamal, the Deputy of Tourism, Finance, and Administration of the Ministry, held talks with Oybek Usmanov, the Uzbek Ambassador in Kabul, about expanding cultural cooperation.

According to the ministry, the meeting covered the protection and promotion of shared cultural heritage, the development of collaboration between museums, archives, and libraries, the organization of cultural exhibitions and artistic programs, as well as enhancing the capacity of tourism sector staff.

Mawlawi Jamal reportedly proposed establishing joint Islamic, historical, and cultural tourism routes linking the Afghan cities of Balkh, Herat, Ghazni, and Kabul with Samarkand, Bukhara, and Termez in Uzbekistan.

The Uzbek ambassador also stated that a delegation from Uzbekistan’s tourism and cultural sectors will soon visit Afghanistan to explore historical and archaeological sites.

Uzbekistan, one of Afghanistan’s neighboring countries, has maintained political and economic relations with the Taliban administration in recent years and has engaged with it in transit, energy, and trade sectors.
