Afghan Ministry of Defense Seizes 74 Firearms Smuggled from Pakistan in Western Zone
The Afghan Ministry of Defense announced that the country’s defense forces have discovered and confiscated 74 light and heavy firearms during separate operations in parts of the western zone. According to the ministry, these weapons were trafficked from Pakistan into Afghanistan.
The ministry’s statement said that the shipment was identified and seized based on intelligence reports by troops and intelligence officers of the 201 Khalid Bin Walid Corps (RA).
The seized weapons reportedly include PK machine guns, Kalashnikov rifles, M16 rifles, submachine guns, mortars, AGS-17 automatic grenade launchers, DShK heavy machine guns, and thousands of rounds of ammunition, along with other military equipment.
The Ministry of Defense claimed that these weapons were intended for “sabotage activities” within the country and emphasized that Afghan defense forces will not allow any individual or group to undertake destructive actions inside Afghanistan.
