Taliban’s 219th Army Corps Assesses Security and Readiness of Border Forces in Badakhshan
The 219th Army Corps of the Taliban has announced that the security situation and readiness level of forces stationed along the borders of Badakhshan province have been assessed.
Nurullah Nazari, the media official of this corps, stated that Mohammad Abdul Wakil Moneeb, commander of the 219th Army Corps, traveled to the border areas of Burghil and shared border lines of Badakhshan with Tajikistan and China, where he visited border battalions and was briefed on their challenges and operational status.
According to him, the head of military operations of the corps and several battalion commanders were also present on this trip, during which they discussed enhanced coordination and addressing the soldiers’ issues.
The Taliban administration, quoting this military official, added that during the visit, emphasis was placed on maintaining readiness and vigilance against “potential threats” and the stationed forces in these hard-to-reach areas were appreciated.
Based on these remarks, concerns were also raised regarding attempts by “foreign enemies” to destabilize the border areas, although no further details were provided on this matter.
The 219th Army Corps of Umar Sattar is one of the military units stationed in the northeast of the country, responsible for securing parts of the mountainous and difficult borders of Badakhshan—a province that shares borders with Tajikistan and China and is geographically considered one of Afghanistan’s most complex border regions.
