WHO Highlights Urgent Health Needs After Powerful Earthquake in Northern Afghanistan

The World Health Organization (WHO) has released its fourth situation report in the aftermath of the powerful earthquake that struck northern Afghanistan on November 3, 2025. The report provides detailed insights into the health impacts, response efforts, and urgent needs in the affected areas.

According to the findings, health facilities in several northern provinces are facing critical shortages of medicine, healthcare personnel, and essential medical equipment. The limited presence of health teams and inadequate emergency resources have significantly hindered the response efforts for impacted communities.

The WHO has stressed the urgent need for emergency medical supplies and has called on the Taliban administration to ensure rapid access for relief teams to remote regions. However, the organization noted that a lack of effective management by local authorities has slowed aid delivery and worsened the humanitarian crisis.

The recent earthquake has left hundreds of families homeless and pushed health conditions in the region toward a critical state. In this context, timely and effective aid delivery depends on coordination between international organizations and local structures—an area that has been severely affected under Taliban rule.
