530 Afghan Pilgrims Enter Iran via Dogharoon Border for Religious Ceremonies
The governor of Taybad has announced that at least 530 Afghan pilgrims have entered Iran through the official Dogharoon border crossing in Razavi Khorasan Province over the past two days to participate in the final ceremonies of the month of Safar.
According to him, these pilgrims, originating from the provinces of Ghor, Badghis, and Farah, reached the city of Herat before crossing into Iran via the Dogharoon border. They then proceeded to Mashhad to attend events commemorating the passing of the Prophet Muhammad and the martyrdom of Imam Reza (peace be upon him).
The governor of Taybad added that after completing legal formalities, the pilgrims made a short stop in the border area before being dispatched to Mashhad. He also stated that a temporary accommodation area covering 1,700 square meters has been prepared in the Shahid Soleimani Hosseiniyeh near the Dogharoon border, in cooperation with the office responsible for foreign nationals and immigrants.
He predicted that more Afghan pilgrims would enter Iran through this crossing in the remaining days until the end of the month of Safar.
Earlier, officials from the Herat Information and Culture Directorate under the Taliban had announced the formation of a joint committee to coordinate the dispatch of pilgrims. Reports indicated that approximately 15,000 Afghan pilgrims were expected to travel via Iran to Iraq to participate in Arbaeen ceremonies.
The Dogharoon border, adjacent to Herat province, is one of the most important official crossings between Afghanistan and Iran. It witnesses heavy pilgrim traffic annually during religious occasions.
