July Marks Deadliest Month of 2026 for Pakistan Security Forces, Says PICSS
The Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) has reported that July was the deadliest month of 2026 for the country’s security forces. According to the institute’s report, 112 security personnel lost their lives during this month as a result of terrorist attacks and counter-terrorism operations; this figure represents the highest monthly death toll since January 2023.
Dawn news agency quoted the institute’s monthly report on Saturday, August 1, stating that a total of 205 people were killed in security-related incidents in July. Among the victims were 74 civilians and 19 members of peace committees.
The report added that 232 individuals were injured in attacks and clashes. Additionally, eight suicide attacks were recorded in July, with five of those carried out using vehicle-borne explosives.
The statistics indicate an increase in security forces’ casualties compared to June, alongside more than a twofold rise in the number of militants killed. The institute also noted a surge in kidnapping incidents, which rose from 33 cases in June to 66 in July.
