US and European Powers Submit Draft Resolution Accusing Iran of Nuclear Opacity

The United States, along with France, Germany, and the United Kingdom, has submitted a draft resolution to the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), accusing Iran of a lack of transparency in its nuclear activities and urging Tehran to increase its cooperation with the agency.

The draft calls on Iran to grant IAEA inspectors access to damaged nuclear sites and enriched uranium stockpiles. It also requests that Iran provide full disclosure regarding its nuclear program.

According to news sources, the draft resolution is expected to be discussed and put to a vote at the upcoming IAEA Board of Governors meeting, scheduled for November 18–20. The document is said to contain eight clauses, with a strong emphasis on the suspension of Iran’s nuclear activities.

The European Troika has urged Iran to fully resume implementation of the Additional Protocol and to uphold its commitments under international agreements, particularly the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). The draft’s authors claim the IAEA has been unable to access Iran’s nuclear sites or conduct effective verification over the past five months.
