Trump Cancels Planned Military Strike on Iran, Opts for Diplomatic Path
Donald Trump, the President of the United States, announced that he has halted a pre-planned military attack against Iran and instead chosen a diplomatic approach towards Tehran.
On Saturday evening, Trump posted on the social media platform Truth Social that the decision was made after several Middle Eastern countries requested an opportunity to finalize the framework of a peace agreement.
According to him, the parties have reached an understanding on a framework that includes the immediate, full, and unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and an end to what he referred to as “Iran’s nuclear threat.” Trump also claimed that Israel has joined this commitment and has called on all parties to act toward finalizing the agreement.
The U.S. president, who had previously threatened Iran with military action, emphasized this time that canceling the strike benefits “the future of the world” and “the survival of a successful and prosperous Iran.” At the same time, he warned that the United States remains prepared to take extensive military action if necessary.
This development comes amid rising tensions between Washington and Tehran in recent months, with the security of the Strait of Hormuz—one of the world’s key energy transit routes—once again becoming a focal point.
