WHO Highlights the Critical Importance of Breastfeeding on World Breastfeeding Week

The World Health Organization (WHO) has emphasized that with the start of World Breastfeeding Week, attention to the fundamental role of breastfeeding in the health and growth of infants is more essential than ever.
On Saturday, August 1st, WHO tweeted that this week presents an opportunity to highlight the importance of breast milk as the best start in life for every child.
According to WHO, breast milk provides all the essential nutrients for infants and protects children against many diseases; this facilitates healthy growth and strengthens the immune system of newborns.
The organization also stressed that in Afghanistan, every child’s right to access breast milk must be supported, and mothers should receive the necessary support and resources to continue this practice.
World Breastfeeding Week is held annually at the beginning of August, aiming to raise public awareness about the benefits of breastfeeding and to support mothers worldwide.
