413 Families Return to Afghanistan Amid Growing Challenges for Returnees

The Taliban administration has announced that 413 families, totaling 2,183 individuals, have entered Afghanistan through various border points in the past day. This return comes amid a shortage of job opportunities and basic services, raising concerns about the situation faced by the returnees.

Hamdullah Fetrat, the deputy spokesperson of the Taliban administration, stated on Saturday, July 31, in a press release that among them, 363 families comprising 1,938 individuals entered the country through the Torkham border. According to him, 32 families returned via the Spin Boldak border and 18 families through the Islam Qala crossing.

However, many of the migrants face challenges upon their return, such as lack of shelter, limited job opportunities, restricted access to health services, and inability to meet basic living needs. These issues have complicated their reintegration into society.

International organizations have previously called on host countries to ensure that migration returns are conducted humanely. They have also urged practical measures within Afghanistan to provide housing and support for the returnees. In recent months, the rate of migrant returns from neighboring countries has increased.
