China and Turkey Discuss Afghanistan Reconstruction and Regional Stability

Yu Shaoyong, China’s Special Representative for Afghanistan Affairs, met with Jihad Erginay, Director General of the South Asia Department at Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to discuss developments in Afghanistan and regional stability.
In a message posted on the social media platform X, Shaoyong stated that the meeting involved detailed talks about the “peaceful reconstruction of Afghanistan” as well as security and regional stability. He described the meeting as constructive.
Since the Taliban’s return to power in 2021, China and Turkey have maintained their relations and engagements with Afghanistan. Both countries have previously emphasized the importance of regional cooperation, economic development, and maintaining stability in Afghanistan.
Following the political changes in 2021, the issue of Afghanistan’s stability and reconstruction has become a central topic among regional countries, with ongoing bilateral meetings and consultations on the matter.
