Ukraine Requests 300 Patriot Missiles from US Ahead of Winter

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that he has asked US President Donald Trump to provide Kyiv with a military aid package including 300 Patriot interceptor missiles before the coming winter.

In an interview with Axios, Zelensky said that Trump is unable to fully fulfill this request due to reduced US interceptor missile stocks resulting from the war with Iran. However, according to him, the US president has agreed to authorize the production of Patriot systems for Ukraine.

The Ukrainian president also claimed that his relationship with Trump has become “better and more constructive” compared to before, attributing this change to what he described as Ukraine’s recent successes in the war against Russia.

Zelensky added that Jared Kushner and Steve Wittkoff, special envoys from the US, are likely to travel to Ukraine within the next two weeks to discuss the resumption of peace talks. The war in Ukraine, which began in 2022, continues with ongoing clashes in parts of the eastern and southern regions of the country.
