Five Taliban Officials Killed in Clashes with Afghan Liberation Front in Badakhshan

The Afghan Liberation Front announced in a statement that clashes between its forces and Taliban officials occurred around 10:00 PM on Monday (July 27) in the Zibak district of Badakhshan province. According to the Front, a counterattack by its forces resulted in the deaths of five Taliban officials and injuries to four others.

The statement explained that Taliban forces initially launched several attacks in the area, but, as claimed by the Afghan Liberation Front, these assaults were repelled. Following the defense, Front forces launched a counteroffensive from two directions.

The Afghan Liberation Front also claimed that none of its forces sustained any injuries during the fighting. The Taliban administration has not yet commented on the incident.

This comes after the Afghan Liberation Front reported another attack on Taliban positions in the Zibak district last Friday, alleging that 21 Taliban members were killed in that event. Zibak district is one of the border districts of Badakhshan province in the northeastern part of the country.
