UN Special Rapporteur Calls for Immediate Arms Embargo on Israel Over West Bank Attacks

Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories, described recent Israeli attacks against civilians in the occupied West Bank as a “massacre” and called for an immediate arms embargo and halt to trade with Israel.

On Saturday, she wrote on the social media platform X that while Gaza remains under fire, the killing of unarmed civilians in the West Bank continues. Albanese emphasized that the international community must promptly stop arms sales to Israel.

The UN official added that cutting arms exports and suspending trade relations with Israel is a legal obligation under international law.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Ministry of Health reported that four Palestinians were killed on Friday in an attack by Israeli forces on the city of Tel. Since the escalation of conflict in Gaza, the West Bank has witnessed a rise in military operations and violence.
