Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Justify Attack on US Military Base in Jordan as a Legal Right
The Public Relations Office of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued statement No. 45 on Thursday, addressing the people of Jordan and announcing that IRGC forces have targeted a US military base in response to what they described as “repeated American aggressions on the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
The statement claimed that the attack destroyed a radar of the THAAD missile defense system, a Patriot system, and a C-RAM radar. Additionally, fuel tanks, a helicopter equipment warehouse, and a hangar used for helicopter maintenance were set ablaze.
The IRGC emphasized in this message that the strike on the US base does not constitute a violation of Jordan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. It further alleged that the presence and operations of US military bases on Jordanian soil themselves violate Jordan’s national sovereignty.
The statement also referred to the killing of several schoolchildren in Minab, accusing the United States of conducting the attack and asserting that targeting US positions in the region is the IRGC’s “legal and religious right.”
This announcement comes amid escalating tensions between Iran and the United States in the region, with the presence of US military bases in various Middle Eastern countries frequently sparking debate and controversy.
