Collective Security Treaty Emphasizes Coordinated Action at Shanghai Cooperation Organization Meeting

The twelfth security and border meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) was held in Pakistan with the participation of a delegation from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). The meeting focused on regional coordination to address security threats.

On Tuesday, July 21, the CSTO issued a statement announcing that Andrei Serdyukov, Chief of the Joint Staff of the organization, emphasized in his speech the timely identification of crises and coordinated action by international organizations to ensure security.

According to Serdyukov, guaranteeing collective security is impossible without close and coherent cooperation with other international bodies, and coordinating structures to confront emerging threats is fundamentally important.

On the sidelines of the meeting, CSTO representatives met with officials from the SCO Anti-Terrorism Executive Committee, the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center, and the Council of Border Forces Commanders of the union.

According to the released statement, during these meetings, the parties discussed expanding joint cooperation to counter security threats and enhance border security.
