Palestinian Mujahideen Movement Warns of Major Raid on Al-Aqsa Mosque
The Palestinian Mujahideen Movement has announced that the call by extremist settler groups for what is being described as the “largest raid” on Al-Aqsa Mosque signals a dangerously heightened risk of attacks against Islamic holy sites; an action they say could escalate tensions in the region.
In a statement issued Wednesday evening, the movement condemned the timing of this call, which coincides with an anniversary some Jewish groups refer to as the “destruction of the temple,” as an affront to Muslim feelings and disregard for the religious significance of Al-Aqsa Mosque. The statement emphasized that this act targets the first qibla of Muslims and the third holiest sanctuary.
The Palestinian Mujahideen Movement also described the call as part of a process aimed at the “Judaization” of Al-Aqsa Mosque and imposing temporal and spatial division on this sacred site. The statement highlighted that official Israeli government support for these raids reflects an effort to enforce new realities in Jerusalem through force.
Warning against what it called violations of international laws and resolutions, the movement cautioned that the continuation of such actions could have dangerous consequences for regional security and stability.
In the statement’s conclusion, Palestinians in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and other areas were urged to mobilize to attend Al-Aqsa Mosque and confront any attempts to desecrate this holy site. The movement also called on Arab and Islamic countries to take concrete measures to prevent the ongoing what they labeled “aggressions against Palestinian sanctities.”
Al-Aqsa Mosque, located in East Jerusalem, is one of the most important Islamic holy sites and has seen repeated tensions and clashes between Palestinians and Israeli forces over recent years.
