Residents of Badakhshan Complain About Taliban Mining Authority’s Neglect

Activists in Badakhshan province have voiced complaints about what they describe as the Taliban administration’s disregard for their issues, stating that the provincial mining directorate is not responding to their requests.

According to these activists, the head of the mining department had previously promised that his office doors would be open to the public and that he would listen to their problems; however, many visitors are currently waiting to meet with him but have been unsuccessful in securing an appointment.

This situation arises amid growing public dissatisfaction with the Taliban’s governance in Badakhshan in recent weeks. Just days ago, an armed group named “Soldiers of the Homeland” claimed to have taken control of Yeftal Payan district for several hours.

Previously, reports had surfaced about protests and grievances from Badakhshan residents regarding the performance of Taliban officials. Badakhshan is a northeastern province of the country, known for its various valuable mines and natural resources.
