Fazlur Rehman Accuses Pakistan of Enabling US Attacks on Afghanistan
Maulana Fazlur Rehman, leader of Pakistan’s Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam party, has accused the Pakistani government of facilitating the use of its airspace and territory by US forces to launch attacks on Afghanistan during a certain period. He stated that Islamabad did not obstruct the passage of American aircraft and military forces.
Fazlur Rehman described this action as the “plundering” of Afghanistan and emphasized that Pakistan’s past policies towards Afghanistan require serious reconsideration. According to him, if Pakistan desires lasting internal security, it must revise its foreign policy approach towards its neighbors, especially Afghanistan.
The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam leader also criticized the domestic policies of the Pakistani government, alleging that officials are refusing to register religious schools to prevent their students from participating in protests. He accused the government of militarily suppressing protesters and said this process continues.
Fazlur Rehman further called for the release of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, adding that without changes in current policies, achieving stability will not be possible. He did not specify the exact timeframe for the alleged facilitation of US attacks on Afghanistan. These statements come amid recent reports of Pakistani airstrikes deep into Afghan territory.
