Visa Issuance for Afghan Students in Sindh Halted, Raising Concerns

The Taliban administration’s consulate in Karachi has announced that despite the expiration of visas for some Afghan students in the Sindh province of Pakistan, no new visas have been issued to them so far. This has raised concerns among students currently studying at universities in the province.

Abdul Jabbar Takhari, the Taliban administration’s Consul General in Karachi, told the private TOLOnews that Afghan students at universities in Sindh have not yet faced direct problems, but the process of visa renewal or issuance of new visas has not been carried out.

He also added that in some other provinces of Pakistan, a number of Afghan students have faced issues including forced expulsions. No further details were provided regarding the number of affected students or the nature of these expulsions.

Pakistan has been one of the main destinations for Afghan students in recent years, and any interruption in the visa issuance process could pose serious challenges to their continuation of education.
