Afghan Taliban Ministry Signs $1.1 Million Contract for 11 Telecom Sites in Seven Provinces

The Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology of the Taliban administration has announced signing contracts worth $1.1 million with three telecommunications companies to establish 11 telecom sites across seven provinces in the country. The project aims to expand telecommunications and internet services in remote and underserved areas.
According to the ministry’s statement, these sites will be constructed under the eleventh project of the Telecommunications Development Fund (TDF) managed by the Afghanistan Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (ATRA). Officials stated that the implementation of this project could improve access to communication services for residents of several districts.
Under this contract, Atma Company is responsible for building eight telecom sites in the districts of Baharak in Takhar, Khwrom and Sarbagh in Samangan, Taleha and Barfak in Baghlan, Seyad Karam in Paktia, Nematabad in Paktika, Spira in Khost, and Azra in Logar.
Additionally, Afghan Wireless Communication Company (AWCC) will establish one telecom site in Guzargah district of Baghlan, and Etisalat Afghanistan will build two other sites in Khwaja Ghar district of Takhar and Tani district of Khost province.
The Ministry of Telecommunications further added that under the tenth universal access project, the construction of 550 telecom sites nationwide was planned. According to the ministry, 400 of these sites have been completed and activated so far, and work on the remaining sites continues.
