Martyr Leader Laid to Rest Beside Imam Reza Shrine in Mashhad
The funeral ceremony for the pure body of the martyred leader of the revolution and members of his martyred family was held today, Thursday, July 8, in the holy city of Mashhad. Following the transfer of the bodies to the revered Imam Reza Shrine, the prayer and burial proceedings commenced. This ceremony, after funerals in Tehran, Qom, and Iraq, continued with a large presence of mourners in Mashhad.
According to the organizers, the funeral prayer for the martyred leader and his family was held at the Imam Reza Shrine, followed by the official burial ceremony in the Dar al-Zekr corridor. Mourners gathered in the courtyards and along the streets leading to the shrine of Imam Reza (peace be upon him) are currently waiting for the prayer to begin.
Given that the Prophet Muhammad’s Courtyard and surrounding courtyards are located at the end of the funeral procession route, the prayer rows were arranged on the northern side of the shrine and along Sheikh Tabarsi Street. Imam Reza Street also witnessed the large presence of people during the farewell ceremony.
The Astan Quds Razavi, besides providing facilities for pilgrims, has organized cultural programs and mourning ceremonies with the presence of eulogists of the Ahl al-Bayt and international Quran reciters in the Prophet Muhammad’s Courtyard. According to the announced schedule, the night prayer of the burial will continue from the end of the burial ceremony until the dawn call to prayer.
The pure bodies of the martyred leader and his family are to be laid to rest in the Dar al-Zekr corridor near the illuminated area of the shrine, a prominent section adjacent to the holy Imam Reza Shrine complex.
