Russia Invites Afghanistan to Participate in ‘North-South’ Transport Forum

The Afghan Embassy in Moscow has announced that Mullah Gul Hassan Hassan, Afghanistan’s ambassador to Russia, held separate meetings with representatives of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Investment, as well as officials of the international ‘North-South’ transport corridor forum in the city of Astrakhan. The discussions emphasized the expansion of trade, economic, and transportation cooperation between the two countries.

According to the embassy’s newsletter, both sides discussed establishing direct relations between Afghan and Russian traders and highlighted Afghanistan’s important role in regional transport corridors. The ‘North-South’ corridor is considered one of the key transit routes linking Russia, Central Asia, and other regions.

The embassy added that the Russian side has invited Afghan officials and traders to participate in the international ‘North-South’ forum in Astrakhan. This invitation comes as the Taliban administration seeks to expand its economic relations with regional countries, despite not yet being recognized by many states.
