Iranian President Criticizes US Policies at FIFA World Cup Hosting

Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of Iran, criticized the United States’ behavior in foreign policy and its hosting of the FIFA World Cup in an English message posted on the social media platform X. He described it as based on lawbreaking and creating obstacles for competitors.
On Wednesday, July 8, 2026, Pezeshkian wrote that what is seen from the US government as the World Cup host is a continuation of the same approach that, according to him, is also evident in the country’s foreign policy—an approach that includes violating laws, pressuring rivals, and unfair behavior.
Referring to the slogan “MAGA,” Pezeshkian considered this method part of the prevailing political approach in America. He emphasized that Iran does not accept such behavior.
The president concluded by asserting that Iran firmly defends its rights and will not remain silent against what it perceives as unjust.
