Najaf Fully Prepared for Funeral Ceremony of Iran’s Martyred Leader

The official spokesperson of the Najaf Governorate announced that, based on current estimates, the number of participants in the funeral ceremony of Iran’s martyred leader will exceed one million, with the possibility of this figure increasing. According to him, official and popular delegations from inside Iraq and several other countries have been arriving in Najaf since yesterday.

Ahmad Al-Fatlawi added that the official funeral ceremony will be held tonight at 9 PM at the Najaf International Airfield, attended by senior Iraqi officials and several foreign delegations. He stated that the public procession will begin at 6 AM tomorrow, and a large crowd is expected to participate.

The Iraqi Prime Minister’s office also announced that, by the Prime Minister’s order, Wednesday will be an official holiday coinciding with the funeral ceremonies. The funeral events are planned to take place in the cities of Najaf and Karbala.

The spokesperson for the Najaf Governor emphasized that since the announcement of the funeral date, coordination meetings have been held with security, service, and social institutions as well as with Hosseini procession committees, and full preparedness for the ceremony has been declared. He noted that civil defense teams and security forces, cooperating with reinforcements dispatched from Baghdad and other provinces, have finalized a special plan to transfer the body of the martyred Iranian leader from Najaf Airport to the holy Alawi shrine and then to Karbala.

Local officials in Najaf emphasized that the province has experience managing millions of pilgrims, and necessary arrangements have been implemented to ensure the ceremony is conducted in an orderly and safe manner.
