Millions Gather in Tehran to Attend Funeral of Iran’s Martyred Leader

Reports from Tehran indicate that on Monday, millions of people came together in the Iranian capital to participate in the funeral ceremony of the martyred leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran. According to Al Mayadeen network, the event began with a massive turnout from the early hours of the morning, with central Tehran’s streets witnessing unprecedented crowds.

The report states that the vehicle carrying the coffins of the martyrs, including one of the youngest grandchildren of the martyred leader, moved through the crowd. An Al Mayadeen correspondent in Tehran noted that some participants chanted slogans opposing the United States and Israel, demanding “retribution from the killers.”

The official funeral ceremony was held after two consecutive days of millions gathering at Imam Khomeini Mosalla. News sources have predicted this process to continue for a total of six days, spanning parts of Iran and Iraq.

According to the announced plan, the body of the martyred leader will be transferred from Tehran to the city of Qom, followed by visits to Najaf and Karbala in Iraq. The burial ceremony is scheduled for July 9 at the Imam Reza shrine in the city of Mashhad.

Some analysts, speaking to Al Mayadeen, have described the large public turnout as carrying a political message and a sign of internal cohesion. This ceremony is taking place at a time when the Islamic Republic of Iran faces regional developments and challenges, attracting wide attention from international media.
