Flood Protection Reinforcement Project Launched in Kot, Nangarhar

The project to clean and reinforce the flood protection embankment in the Lagoorjio area of Kot district, Nangarhar province, has officially commenced. This initiative is being carried out by the Nangarhar Disaster Preparedness Directorate, affiliated with the Taliban administration.
According to published reports, the inauguration ceremony was attended by members of a joint committee, including representatives from the Nangarhar provincial local administration, the Mustofiat office, the Marine Zone, and the Disaster Preparedness Directorate.
During their visit to the site, the committee members emphasized adherence to technical standards, the orderly progress of work, and precise implementation of activities. They also provided guidance to officials to improve the project’s execution process.
The main objective of the project is to clear the flood path, reinforce the embankment banks, and regulate water flow. Officials stated that with the completion of these measures, the risks posed by floods will be reduced, thereby protecting residential areas, agricultural lands, and public facilities from potential damage.
The Nangarhar Disaster Preparedness Directorate expressed hope that the completion of this project will significantly decrease the damage caused by natural disasters in the region. The directorate also stressed that implementing preventive projects plays a crucial role in safeguarding the lives and properties of residents and enhancing preparedness for natural events.
