The Subordinate Customs Department of Helmand Province has announced that mobile units of the department have seized 22,284 kilograms of smuggled food and non-food items from Lashkargah city and the districts of Garmsir and Bahramcha.

Haji Haqmal, head of the Subordinate Customs of Helmand, told Bakhtar News Agency that the seized items included medicines and various food products. He added that these goods were imported from outside the country last week and were being transported to another country. According to him, the shipments were identified and stopped before reaching their destination.

According to the provided information, in connection with this case, ten vehicles were confiscated and fifteen individuals were arrested. Officials stated that the detainees have been handed over to relevant authorities after initial investigations.

The Helmand Subordinate Customs Department added that previously, the mobile units of this department had also apprehended smuggled goods and several individuals involved in similar cases. However, experts emphasize that the continued smuggling in some border areas indicates the ongoing need for more effective oversight and greater transparency in customs management under the Taliban administration.
