Taliban Administration Bans Smartphone Use for Teachers and Education Staff in Maidan Wardak

Local sources in Maidan Wardak province report that the Taliban administration has banned the use of smartphones for teachers and all employees in the education sector of the province. According to this order, staff are prohibited from using smartphones during official and unofficial hours.
Sources say this decision will take effect from Wednesday, June 17, and has been communicated by the local Taliban authorities to schools and the education department staff. No official reasons for the ban have been provided.
This move comes amid similar restrictions previously imposed on employees of certain departments in Kandahar province and several other provinces. The expansion of such restrictions has raised concerns among teachers and civil service workers about access to communication and educational tools.
Education experts believe that under current circumstances, the use of digital devices is an integral part of the educational and administrative process, and imposing broad restrictions could negatively impact the quality of education and school management across various regions of the country.
