Officials Urge Acceleration of Herat-Mazar-i-Sharif Railway Project
Noor Mohammad Motwakel, Afghanistan’s Consul General in Mashhad, during a meeting with Mostafa Rezaei, CEO of the Afghan Railway Construction and Development Consortium, emphasized the need to expedite the work and timely implementation of the Herat–Mazar-i-Sharif railway project.
In the meeting, both parties reviewed the progress of this strategic project and stressed greater coordination for the completion of the remaining phases. They also discussed providing necessary facilities for the project’s operational partners.
Another key topic of the meeting was strengthening the active role of Afghan companies in executing the project. The parties highlighted the importance of involving domestic capacities in implementing the country’s infrastructure projects.
They expressed hope that the advancement of the Herat–Mazar-i-Sharif railway would play an effective role in enhancing Afghanistan’s transport infrastructure and expanding regional economic relations. This project is considered one of the major initiatives to connect the country’s rail network, potentially facilitating trade transfers and increasing economic cooperation.
