Taliban Authorities Detain 22 Individuals for Criminal Offenses Across Five Provinces
Taliban officials have announced the arrest of 22 individuals in connection with various criminal offenses in the provinces of Kapisa, Baghlan, Farah, Ghazni, and Faryab. The suspects face charges including livestock and vehicle theft, murder, arms trafficking, and illegal possession of weapons.
According to the Kapisa provincial Taliban police chief, the Criminal Investigation Department conducted multiple separate operations resulting in the detention of 12 individuals. These suspects are accused of livestock theft, vehicle theft, involvement in conflicts, illegal transfer and possession of weapons, and arms trafficking.
Meanwhile, the Criminal Investigation Department of the Taliban’s Ministry of Interior in Baghlan province arrested five people on theft charges. In Farah province, three individuals were detained in connection with the theft of three motorcycles.
According to provided information, one person in Ghazni was arrested on murder charges, and another in Faryab was arrested for house robbery. The Taliban authorities have not disclosed further details regarding the legal status of those detained or how transparent handling of their cases will proceed—an issue that continues to raise concerns about fair and transparent access to judicial processes for defendants in the country.
