Six Armed Men Killed in Clash at Iran-Afghanistan Border near Zabol

The police of Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan province have announced that six armed individuals were killed while attempting to enter the country during a confrontation with border forces in the Zabol border area. According to Iranian officials, the incident occurred on Friday evening, June 5.
IRNA news agency, quoting Ali Akbar Javidan, commander of the Law Enforcement Border Guard in Sistan and Baluchestan, reported that these individuals were targeted and killed in an armed clash with the “Zabol Border Unit” forces. He stated that the individuals intended to enter Iranian territory and attack the border posts.
According to the Iranian official, after the clash ended and the area was cleared, two pistols and some ammunition were recovered from the site. No further details have been provided regarding the types of weapons or the exact amount of ammunition.
The Sistan and Baluchestan police have not yet disclosed the identities of the individuals nor any information about their political or military affiliations. The Zabol district in Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan province borders Nimruz province in Afghanistan and is considered one of the significant border areas between the two countries.
