Serbia Reaffirms Support for One-China Principle, Recognizing Taiwan as Part of China

Aleksandar Vučić, President of Serbia, stated that his country views Taiwan as part of Chinese territory and emphasized Belgrade’s steadfast commitment to the ‘One-China’ principle. He affirmed that Serbia’s stance on this issue remains clear and unchanged.

In an interview with Zou Yun of the CMG network, Vučić stressed that the Taiwan issue is an internal matter of China, and Serbia supports Beijing’s official policy on the subject. The One-China principle forms the basis of the People’s Republic of China’s foreign policy toward Taiwan and other disputed regions.

China has consistently insisted on adherence to this principle by other countries, describing it as a red line in its foreign policy. Beijing has warned that it will not tolerate any support for separatist movements in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and Tibet.

Meanwhile, tensions between China and the United States over Taiwan’s status have increased in recent years. The U.S., focusing on its Indo-Pacific strategy, has taken actions that China views as potentially escalating diplomatic rivalry and raising concerns about the possibility of military confrontation between the two powers.
