IAEA Chief Condemns Drone Attack on Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Plant as Unacceptable

The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has declared that the drone attack on the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant has endangered fundamental nuclear safety principles and called for an immediate halt to such assaults. According to him, the continuation of this situation could lead to a nuclear incident, an outcome that would benefit no party.
On Sunday, the IAEA reported that damages to the power plant were recorded following the Ukrainian drone attack. Experts from the agency noted and documented damages to the exterior facade of the turbine building.
Rafael Grossi, the IAEA Director General, emphasized that radiation levels at the plant remain within normal limits, but the very occurrence of such attacks has raised serious concerns within the international community.
He reiterated the warning that nuclear facilities must not be targeted by military actions and that their protection should be a top priority. According to reports, Kyiv has previously targeted this power plant multiple times.
