IRGC Engages US Drones in the Strait of Hormuz Amid Airspace Violations

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that following what it described as “violation of Iranian airspace” by US forces, an MQ-9 drone was identified and targeted in the Strait of Hormuz region. According to the statement, this incident occurred after “precise intelligence monitoring” by air defense units.

The announcement further stated that IRGC forces fired upon an RQ-4 drone and an F-35 fighter jet, forcing them to leave Iranian airspace. No additional details were provided regarding the extent of damage or the exact timing of the events.

The IRGC also warned that any breach of the ceasefire by US forces would not go unanswered and reserved the right to take reciprocal action.

The Strait of Hormuz is considered a strategic passage in the Persian Gulf region, where any military tensions typically garner wide regional and international attention.
