Taliban Announces Special Security Measures for Eid al-Adha Prayers

The Taliban’s Ministry of Interior spokesperson has announced that security forces have implemented special measures to ensure the safety of worshippers and prayer venues for Eid al-Adha prayers.
Abdul Mateen Qanet, the ministry’s spokesperson, stated in a message marking the occasion of Eid al-Adha that security personnel across the country have been tasked with securing mosques and locations hosting Eid prayers. According to him, these steps have been taken to prevent any security incidents during the Eid celebrations.
He also urged citizens to refrain from using fireworks during the Eid days. Qanet emphasized that the use of explosive recreational materials can cause harm to people and pose security threats.
Eid al-Adha is one of the major Islamic festivals, held annually with large gatherings of worshippers in mosques and open spaces. Given the history of security incidents in previous years, ensuring the safety of these ceremonies is considered a fundamental responsibility of security agencies—a responsibility that is expected to be carried out effectively and responsively.
